The Noticer by Andy Andrews is an amazing, eye-opening book that will change your perspective on life.
Andy meets Jones at a time where he is at the lowest of lows in his life. His parents are dead; he is alone and lives under a pier on the beach and showers at the beach or swims himself clean. Andy works odd jobs to earn what little money he makes, and he can’t afford a car, a mortgage or rent payment or any of life’s other frivolities. Jones is a noticer that introduces Andy to a new perspective that changes his life forever.
“Think with me here… Everybody wants to be on the mountaintop, but if you’ll remember, mountaintops are rocky and cold. There is no growth on the top of a mountain. Sure, the view is great, but what’s a view for? A view just gives us a glimpse of our next destination—our next target. But to hit that target, we must come off the mountain, go through the valley, and begin to climb the next slope. It is in the valley that we slog through the lush grass and rich soil, learning and becoming what enables us to summit life’s next peak.” -- Jones
I believe that this book can and will make a difference in the life of anyone who reads it!! We all love the mountaintop experience… it’s amazing and we feel untouchable, but if we stay on the mountaintop we don’t eat, grow or learn. The Noticer is a life-changer! It was an easy read and easy to understand. Reading it twice isn’t a bad idea either… I want to go back through and take notes and I want to pass it on to others.
If your life seems at a standstill, pick up The Noticer and see if a change of perspective will help you out, because, “sometimes, all a person needs is a little perspective.”
