"You can take the girl out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the girl!" Piper Wick of Los Angelos, would disagree... she left her hometown of Pickwick, North Carolina and did everything in her power to leave it behind. Not only did she changed her life by losing weight, buying new clothes and going to a diction coach. All of this to make herself a new person... which seems to be working until her uncles' lawyer calls saying there is an emergency and she should come right "home." She goes back to North Carolina to take care of simple business, but when family is involved nothing is simple!
Enter, Axel her uncles gardener, some misfit cousins that Piper doesn't trust and her silly old uncle who has "gotten religious" -- what a recipe for disaster. Can Piper help save the family name? Who cares, Can she save her own name so she can marry US Congressman Grant Spangler? And just where is this godson that was named after Uncle Obadiah.. he's the one that convinced Uncle Obie that he needed to make amends for the family's past wrongdoings?
Leaving Carolina is the first book I have read by Tamara Leigh and I really enjoyed it... of course, that's coming from a displaced Southern Girl.
