My Review:
I believe this was MaryLu's 11th book and she just keeps getting better!
In Veil of Pearls, Adalia and Morgan both find themselves in circumstances that they have not chosen for themselves.
Adalia is a slave who finally escapes the brutal master she has had for 6years. She finds her way to Charleston, where she is hired as an assistant to a local doctor. Life is good, she is not seen as a Negress or a slave, she is seen as a beautiful, intelligent woman in a working trade, and even comes to be accepted by the upper society. Is that what she really wants? Can she continue to hide her past and be accepted by Morgan's friends and family?
Morgan is a young man that has been born into society with all it's expectations and rules. Honestly, he is bored with life... isn't there more than parties, plays and pretty girls? When Adalia comes into Morgan's life with her amazing beauty and her sharp tongue, his life is changed. He is drawn to her and intrigued by her view on life as well as her innocence. He is desperate to win her love, but at what cost?
When Adalia's secret is found out will the truth of it keep them apart and send her back to her cruel owner?
