Not by Sight by Kathy Herman

"...for we walk by faith, not by sight..."
2 Corinthians 5:7 NAS

I believe this is the first book I have read by Kathy Herman, and it won't be the last.  From the beginning Kathy drew me in to the Cummings family and the sorrow they had experienced for the last five years after the disappearance of Micah (dad/husband) and Riley Jo (daughter/sister).  I could only imagine how my family would feel and carry on if something happened to my husband and youngest daughter!!  Not by Sight kept me on the edge of my seat, hoping that the ending would be good.  There is a twist in the book, but one you are kind of prepared for in the beginning (I had an a-ha moment of realization at one point).  I love that Grandpa keeps reminding Abby that faith is "not by sight."  It's a great reminder for us today.

I would definitely recommend Not by Sight.  It is suspenseful, encouraging and hopeful as well as intriguing.  It's a perfect addition to any library or would be great to give as a gift!

About the Book: (from Amazon.com)

Her Sister Couldn’t Be Alive … Could She?

It had to be Riley Jo. She was certain. . .wasn’t she? But when Abby Cummings tells her mother she thought she saw her sister at the store, her mother quickly dismisses the idea. After all, Riley Jo and their father had been missing for years. Presumably dead. Yet Abby cannot ignore her intuition. Telling her friend J. D., they investigate. But J. D. may know more about the disappearance than he’s telling, or even realizes. And as they work to uncover what happened, all they have to go on is blind faith. Will it be enough. . .especially considering what the truth might be?

Her contemporary, fast-paced novels weave inspirational messages into the storyline so effectively that a college professor in Houston utilized her books as required reading to educate students on the value of teaching through fiction. Kathy's books have also been widely used in book club discussion and Bible study groups.
Kathy and her husband Paul live in East Texas and have three grown children, five "nearly perfect" grandchildren, and an adorable cat named Samantha. Her hobbies include photography and bird watching--especially an ongoing fascination with hummingbirds
