My Thoughts:
This was the first book I've read by Gina Welborn and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love to read historical fiction and this book did not disappoint. From the very beginning it had my attention. Masterpiece Marriage, kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what had happened in Zenus' past and wondering also who the prince is to Mary Varrs!?
The book is written around Zenus Dane, who wants to save his business, a textile mill that employs many single mothers, but has just endured a flood. He meets with his aunt to beg her help-- if she'll design a quilt that can used the damp, but undamaged fabrics in his warehouse. In the meantime, his aunt is playing matchmaker.
Mary Varrs just wants to be a professor, but in a time when women are barely allowed to attend college with men. She hasn't thought about marriage... she is only concerned with proving herself and making something of herself. In a moment of need, she agrees to be a part of a quilting bee in exchange for artistic renderings she needs to procure a spot as an under-teacher.
Mary and Zenus don't care much for each other. They each need something that only Zenus' aunt can help them with. Can they get along long enough to get what they need accomplished?
