Marnie Wittier seemd to have it all together... she had a perfect life with her little bookstore/coffee shop, she attends the local church and she helps those who need her. But, nobody knows about the little box of regrets, sorrows, and sins she keeps hidden in her closet. Then, her life changes when Emmitt enters her life. Emmitt is her estranged, dead sister's son... who has Down's Syndrome. Emmitt turns Marnie's world outside and brings the past out for Marnie to settle.
Marlo Schalesky wove Shades of Morning into an intricate tapestry of disappointment, heartache, fear turned hope, forgiveness and LOVE!
I really had a hard time getting into this book and the end left me a little confused/surprised, yet happy. So, I won't say that I loved this book, but I didn't hate it either... maybe it's the place I was in [in life] when I read it, or the mood or whatever. Give it a chance, you just might LOVE it!
